Ferncliff Cemetery Association is a non-sectarian cemetery located in Westchester County, New York, serving families throughout greater New York with dignity and respect. The company was organized as a membership corporation on February 26, 1902. Ferncliff’s cemetery grounds have been substantially dedicated to grave space, which has been sold to members for in- ground burials.  The company has also offered underground lawn crypts, landscaped family plots, and a cremation urn garden over the past century.

The company constructed its first mausoleum in 1928, the Ferncliff Mausoleum (a.k.a. the Cathedral of Memories) which has been expanded over the years as space needs increased to the current size of eleven units.  The mausoleum was designed by one of America’s foremost architects, and constructed under the supervision of James Baird, builder of such immortal monuments as the Lincoln Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Besides its beautiful appointments, the Ferncliff Mausoleum was designed to provide the basic year-round comforts of modern heating, lighting, and ventilation systems.

In 1933, the company began to operate a crematory within the premise of the Ferncliff Mausoleum.  For over 70 years, Ferncliff has had a history of providing quality cremation services, and currently performs approximately 10% of all cremations in New York State.

The company constructed its second large community mausoleum beginning in 1959 called the Shrine of Memories. Gracefully designed, of sand-colored limestone, it offered a more economical alternative for community interments. As with the Ferncliff Mausoleum, the building was created to allow for expansion as space needs increased. Between 1959 and 1995, six additions were made bringing it to the current size of seven units. Within the building, walls of marble, stained-glass windows, and a delicate fountain make the Shrine a truly fitting expression of remembrance.

The third community mausoleum, the Rosewood Mausoleum, was constructed in 1998. The building was designed to combine product features of both the Shrine of Memories and the Ferncliff Mausoleum. It was constructed in a manner to allow maximum flexibility of product offerings in its unfinished floor areas so that market conditions and consumer demand will dictate how each type of interment space will be created each time an area is poured and finished. Rosewood offers a peaceful, private, and secure resting-place that is designed to provide comfort and quiet inspiration to families today and for generations to come.
